Interview at Cesal Lino - Slovakia
Thinking about East of Europe, we tend to believe a world still apart from the rest of the continent; an area where most popular sports and mainly F1 would be very far indeed. Thus Ungheria Gran Prix has been happening since 1986 and last year the first East of Europe F1 driver had his debut: Tomas Enge.
To all GPX visitors we propose a short interview to a F1 web-site webmaster and team member of a Slovakia monthly magazine.
The web-side is nicely done and propose high quality updated pictures (the address is http://www.formulaonephoto.host.sk ) and even the monthly magazine (F1 Sport Magazine) is definitely well made to testify that Slovakia fans are surely a lot and honestly competent.
1) You write in the monthly magazine "F1 Sport", a very well achieved paper. Tell us something about this publication, how many years has it been published, what is its circulation and what do you do in particular.
F1 Sport magazine is one of best F1 magazines in Slovak republic. 2002 will be second year of editing of this magazine. All photographs in magazine are made by Bryn Williams. He is very famous F1 photographer. The magazine cooperate with internet site Crash.net.
2) Tell us about your journalistic career.
I am amateur journalist. I have finished University of Economic in Bratislava - our capital city.
3) You've even opened a website on the net rich of F1 pictures of the present and the past. When have you had this idea and which developments could it have in the future?
My site started in january 2000. Now I am rebuilding my site, becouse many links are dead. I want to make all changes before new season will strated. Now I am trying to increase the visiting of my site.
4) Slovakia seems far from F1. They don't host any Grand Prix but still there are many supporters and very expert as well. In what way is F1 perceived in this nation and in eastern Europe generally speaking?
Slovakia hasn't Grand Prix, but there is many F1 fans. All members of F1 Sport team are big F1 fans. We have any F1 driver, but there is some talented young pilots. Look on Tomas Enge. He was first F1 driver from east Europe. But now he is back in F3000. Biggest problem for drivers from our country are money. We have not many big supporters and sponsors like drivers from others countries.
5) Do you support some team or some specific driver? Moreover what drivers of the present do you like best?
I don't support specific team. Each season I have one team which I support. Last yeat it was Minardi and from drivers Tarso Marques.
6) Have you got any experience in F1 simulation for PC?
Yes, I have some experiences with F1 simulation on PC and Playstation.
7) If yes, which one do you know or do you like best?
My most favourit game is Grand Prix 3.
8) At what level, within the world sports is F1 in Slovakia? Are there any other national sports which are been mainly followed?
Most popular sports in Slovakia are ice-hockey, fotball, basketball and tennis.
9) Do you reckon we will have F1 Grand Prix in eastern Europe in the future?
I am very happy with second Grand Prix in Eastern Europe in Russia in 2003. I don't like Grand Prix in Hungaria. It is very boring circuit. We have not circuit for Formula One, but there are some plans in the future.
