FIA to look at circuit design to aid overtaking

In a bid to increase overtaking, the FIA has formed a 'Circuit Design Group' which will be tasked with looking at a tracks layout and suggesting changes which could improve passing opportunities.

This comes after criticism of the final race of the 2010 season which saw Fernando Alonso unable to pass Vitaly Petrov, thus unable to challenge Sebastian Vettel for the crown.

The Abu Dhabi circuit took much of the flack for its limited overtaking opportunities - something the group hopes to change.

It is unlikely any changes will made for the 2011 season as the FIA has already introduced a raft of regulation alterations, including KERS and adjustable rear-wings, to improve the show.

Quotone. E' opinione diffusa nel paddock che la RBR stia letteralmente passeggiando nei test. Non ci si sono ancora "messi"

Effettivamente l'anno scorso tra cappelle dei piloti, Vettel in primis, e defaillances meccaniche hanno gettato alle ortiche tanti di quei punti che a raccontarlo davvero non ci si crederebbe

Leggevo stamani che Massa (...) non è preoccupato (...) per la velocità della RB.
Diceva che in condizioni da gara tengono il passo.
Tradotto significa che la RB avrà sempre la pole, partirà in testa guadagnando un margine sufficiente, mentre i rossi saranno infognati dietro. Successivamente proseguiranno in quell'ordine fino a fine gara, con i rossi che tengono il passo. Si, ma dietro

We're seeing even bigger lap time variations this winter than last. Sebastian Vettel said yesterday that the difference between a car's quickest configuration (low fuel, soft tyres, all systems deployed) and slowest form (heavy fuel, worn tyres) was up to 8-9s.
